Content Management, Cloud Computing and Web Services
This site is representative of a web platform known as Drupal. It is used as a marketing tool to introduce this technology to this community. A directory of business locations is built by collecting information through a web search, then converted into a map location on a database. This data can then be used for marketing by clicking on a map location and selecting a method of contact.
Private notes under each business indicate interest and will track calls or contacts. My hope is to eventually give this community site to the local business community it serves... but first you must learn to use the technology.
Drupal is a complex data management system, that looks like a website. I would like the opportunity to show you why I think we all need to learn to use these tools.
What can Drupal provide for you ?
* Cloud based systems that will improve the way you use computers.
* Free community news, bulletin board, and networking web sites.
* E-commerce and accounting solutions.
Join us to help move forward commerce in your local community.
We provide the platform you enrich it, use it, improve it and pass it on to others.
What will the future look like, how should you be planning today for tomorrow. Cloud Computing, Web Content Management, and the emerging world of Open Source is changing the way we deal with information. Our forecast... You will need a server and see it as you once did your home or office PC.
We would like to help you and your business navigate this new technology.
* These tools permit you to control your web presence and work with it as you would a personal computer.
* Communicate with others in real time and store all content for future use.
* Keep all your files, data such as documents, pictures, video and audio safe, on a server you control.
It means having the computing power to do things that are impossible to do on just a PC. What makes all this advanced technology even more remarkable is that its all open source, and free.
All that is required is understanding it !
An introduction to this system is accomplished through this site.
What looks like a regular Website is a content management system that is administered on a server in Texas and runs on wind power. Think of it as leasing for, $ 5.00 per month, your most powerful computer and its on all the time, with free electricity, and experts to keep it running. Plus we are here to help you with the systems and keep you up to date with new technology.
Since its on a server you can go anywhere and use your computer. The system that runs this computer is not Microsoft, its open source, you can look in to the code to see if there are any gremlins. Or, if you wish you can customize its software to better suit your needs.
You will find modules (programs) can be loaded that will handle audio and video files, text editors, databases, spreadsheets, inventory point of sale systems, all the most innovative software, all open source, all free.
The first step is to create your first content, I suggest to start with a Classified adds. You will be able to upload an image, and use the text editor. Content is categorized in a database securely stored for easy retrieval. The tools that are available to you will let you post text, pictures, audio or video. My job is to help you understand and use these tools, so please contact me if you have any questions.
I think that once you get a taste of this system you will be hooked. I hope you permit me to set up a system like this for you.
Cost...
We start with a Virtual Desktop. We will build this for you and show you how to use it at no obligation! If you are satisfied with our services we bill you $500.00. From here any needs you may have we bill on a per hour rate.
This includes some customization to you needs and help with learning how to use it. You not only get a Website but also all the advanced database content management features of this system. If you are satisfied with our services we bill you a startup fee of $500.00. From here any additional services are billed on a per hour rate.
We are almost evangelical about getting Drupal into the common use of every one. We will strive to always give you the best service at the lowest possible cost.
Some terms to become acquainted with
Cloud Computing is Internet-based computing, whereby shared resources, software, and information are provided to computers and other devices on demand... like the electricity grid. Cloud computing is a paradigm shift following the shift from mainframe to client–server in the early 1980s. Details are abstracted from the users, who no longer have need for expertise in, or control over, the technology infrastructure "in the cloud" that supports them. (From Wikipedia)
Open-source software (OSS) is computer software that is available in source code form for which the source code and certain other rights normally reserved for copyright holders are provided under a software license that permits users to study, change, and improve the software. A report by Standish Group states that adoption of open-source software models has resulted in savings of about $60 billion per year to consumers. (From Wikipedia)
Content management systems (CMS) are collections of procedures used to manage work flow in a collaborative environment. These procedures can be manual or computer-based. The procedures are designed to: Allow for a large number of people to contribute to and share stored data. - Control access to data, based on user roles. User roles define what information each user can view or edit - Aid in easy storage and retrieval of data - Reduce repetitive duplicate input - Improve the ease of report writing - Improve communication between users. In a CMS, data can be defined as nearly anything - documents, movies, pictures, phone numbers, scientific data, etc. CMSs are frequently used for storing, controlling, revising, semantically enriching, and publishing documentation.
